"Newt Gingrich and the destruction of Congressional expertise"

Bruce Bartlett takes on some Gingrichian nonsense - rooted,  as are most of Newt's manifest sins, in his egomaniacal grandiosity - HERE.

  1. Newt is just the most polished of the GOP primary-as-book-deal candidates. There is no way he will ever be President. Honestly, even if he thought he could win, he probably wouldn't want to take the financial hit to his speaking schedule. The only real candidates on the right are Perry and Mitt, so it has to be Mitt, who is hampered by a shocking lack of Charisma and a track record of actual bipartisan accomplishments. There is just no way. A field of genuine idiots, shameless adulterers and the man who invented Obamacare. The Republican party truly does not want the Presidency. It's too much work.
